It’s a fucking recession and it’s horrible and I feel really awkward… I didn’t want to raise money to make a record — and I’m not dissing anyone who does this — I just felt, personally, very uncomfortable with the idea of ‘Hey! Give me money so that I can make something to sell you!’ I feel really weird about that."
